Safeguard Your Finances and Identity Scammers

In this blog, my aim is to equip you with valuable knowledge to protect yourself from falling victim to the latest trending scams in the market. With the ever-growing presence of technology in our lives, it has become crucial to stay informed and vigilant against cunning individuals seeking to exploit unsuspecting individuals online.

I have been following this latest technique of scamming for the last few weeks and have involved myself in the same. Here I would share some screenshots of the pattern how some scammers are trying to exploit individuals. I shall be describing the process in steps how these scammers trap and the collect money from individuals as much as possible. 

Step 1: Some person will contact you via WhatsApp stating herself as a HR personnel from some reputed company. They will even share the company address and the website. Generally these companies are into Audience Marketing or Digital Marketing or some kind of Business Promotional works. (Establishing a vague profile)

Step 2: Then the person will ask if you are interested in getting some extra income by working for 1 or 2 hours per day. (Normal scam sales pitch for Online Works)  

Step 3: Then he/she continues some conversation and tries to find out if you are interested. Then he/she will share some screenshots of the job profile. Here the job is you need to provide Google reviews for certain companies or business and get paid. He/she will be sharing the payment terms like 150/200 INR for the first review you provide then you will be getting 50/60 INR for the consequent reviews. (You will find it a very easy job to get it done)

Step 4: You will be provided some Google review link where you need to provide 5 stars and a comment in the review section. You also need to share the screenshot of the review and 5 stars which you have given via the WhatsApp chat. (You will be congratulated like anything as if you have done a fantastic job)

Step 5: You will be given some random codes along with a Telegram ID of a person who happens to be some receptionist or handler of your account. You will be asked to join there and if you do not have a Telegram ID you will be asked to open one else you cannot get the payment. The receptionist is very proactive. Once you share the code you will be prompted for your UPI or Bank details. The payment gets credited within 5/10 minutes. (Just to prove the authenticity of the project and get your confidence)

Step 6: You may be shared new jobs by the receptionist or you may be connected to a new Telegram group. Please note that from now onwards all the communication will be in Telegram only. You will be guided how to get the jobs done. Your payment terms and a fine liner stating that you need to complete all jobs to get paid. (You will be glued to the details as you are interested to get the jobs and get paid)

Step 7: After completing 3/4 jobs, you will be asked to pay for next job onwards. You will be given slabs of making payments with some extra benefits. If you don’t pay you won’t get any further jobs and you pending payments will be lost forever. If you make the payment you will be given some number of jobs for a small period of time. (If you are convinced by the scammers you pay or if you disagree to pay you start thinking “Have I lost an opportunity?”)

Step 8: After 24/36 hours you will be removed from the group or the Telegram account of the receptionist will be deleted and you are SCAMMED. 

I have interacted with these scammers for couple of times and tried to inform few persons who were trapped but have been removed from the groups or blocked. So my suggestion is by arming yourself with knowledge and adopting proactive measures, you can confidently navigate the digital landscape and protect yourself and your loved ones from scams.
